Blessings-Shared "Be careful not to do
your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by
them. Lessons Learned The next day we received another message on the answer machine. The same gentleman said he had been in Vegas a short while, had no job, his kids were hungry, and his wife was due to deliver any minute now. Could we please help him? I drove over to the motel where he was staying and gave him another envelope with 2 $100 bills. He introduced me to his 3 neatly dressed, young children and explained that he would leave them at the library while he and his wife went knocking on doors in various neighborhoods looking for work. He said that because they were black, they were often treated with suspicion. I left feeling good that I had helped him and his family. But when he called for more help 2 days later after the baby was born, I felt sad that I could not continue my blessings. First lesson learned- don't put a telephone number on our business cards. This opens the door for many needy people to call for help. When we try to explain how we share our winnings AFTER we win, most of the time they don't (or won't) try to understand the procedure and feel that they have been cheated. Second lesson learned- We cannot take on obligations based on 'future" blessings(winnings). But by controlling who and when you share your blessings with, this won't happen to you. Read on to learn about giving away our apple pie. |
