Bob Dancer One night on the way into the restaurant at the Castaways, I saw a sign advertising "Bob Dancer Video Poker" classes. Since Martha liked to play video poker, I decided we should attend and at least learn some basics- maybe it would save us some money. (Note how conveniently located the classes were for us to attend) I had read briefly something about Bob Dancer in Jean Scott's "Frugal Gambler" book and it was obvious from the start that he was the master of video poker. But that was the problem- being completely raw on the subject, we were lost from the git-go because his presentation was beyond us. Still, I could see the value in learning the proper methods of play, so we bought most of his materials including his "WinPoker" cd which actually teaches you the correct video poker plays. The following week, I attended his next class alone. Martha was too confounded by his presentation and the booklets we had purchased and she didn't want to go back. During the first hour presentation I asked a question pertaining to how much one could win playing video poker. I remember the answer was vague (to me) and i just nodded affirmatively. The Stranger During the break, before the next session began, one of the other students, a complete stranger came up to me and what he told me effectively set us on course for the Robin Hood Ministries. The stranger showed me his hand-written record which had a net of over $3000.00 for 3 weeks play. He said that he and his wife lived on the East coast and spent about 6 months a year here in Vegas and only played Full Pay Deuces Wild video poker during their stay. He explained that they had good weeks and bad weeks but on the average, they always "won a little." It was then that I made a decision to become proficient at playing video poker- specifically Full Pay Deuces Wild. I bought another booklet from the Dancer collection and went back home (to the RV) and told Martha what had happened. She became excited and we began studying FPDW in earnest. |
